Cyber Security

At SocialOptic, our core business is the handling of valuable, sensitive data, from public consultations and healthcare data to critical employee feedback. For us, Cyber Security is an operational imperative. While we don’t supply security solutions in the traditional sense, we do apply our expertise to helping organisations to manage their data effectively and securely. We help organisations to measure the Human Factors at play in cyber security.

Growing in Partnership

As an dedicated and active partner of the Surrey Cyber Security Cluster, we are committed to supporting the community’s collective skills, expertise and defence mechanisms, through evidenced-based solutions, cutting-edge research and continuous learning. Our involvement includes:

  • Supporting Research: Encouraging the sharing and application of expertise within the Cluster’s ecosystem.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Speaking at Cluster events and supporting continuous learning across the community.

You can contribute to the current research by participating in the UK Cyber Security Landscape survey.

Drawing on their backgrounds in the cyber security sector, the founders of SocialOptic built our Software as a Service (SaaS) Survey platform, based on Secure by Default and Privacy by Design principles. Today, as you would expect, SocialOptic holds full ISO 27001:2022 certification, audited by a UKAS accredited assessor, and Cyber Essentials Plus, including independent technical testing of our security measures and NCSC monitoring. SocialOptic holds an ‘Standards Exceeded’ rating, the highest level of compliance in the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit assessment. The SocialOptic survey platform, SurveyOptic, is used by leading businesses, Healthcare and Education Institutions, as well as Government departments, national regulators and other government bodies to deliver survey-based research, consultations and assessments.

Human Factors Measurement

Security is a cultural and behavioural outcome. While technology is an indispensable part of the solution, technological methods alone can’t resolve all of the challenges. Even the most sophisticated defences can be undermined by a lack of security awareness or poor process. These risks are mitigated through culture, rather than technology. SocialOptic, and our partners, provide effective ways to assess the human factors that effect security, identifying and diagnosing risks. We deploy methodologically sound survey instruments to measure employee knowledge, sentiment, and compliance. This transforms the intangible concept of “culture” into measurable, actionable data, so that organisations can strengthen their defences to protect their data and their people. Through benchmarking and trend analysis, we also help organisations to understand what is, and what isn’t, working, so resources can be deployed efficiently and effectively.
